    Ethanol fireplaces: Elegant organic heating

Discover our exclusive selection of ethanol fireplaces, the ecological and stylish alternative for modern, high-performance space heating. As experts in organic heating, we're proud to offer you a wide range of inserts, stoves and table fireplaces powered by liquid ethanol.

What you need to know before buying

Before you start, you should know that on some models - this is especially true of wall-mounted inserts - the upper part of the insert contains insulation. This insulation is designed to withstand high temperatures and ensures safe installation, particularly for any components that might be placed above the fireplace, as the heat rises. The other external parts of the body are designed not to exceed 60 degrees and will be safe for you and your surroundings if touched. Take care never to remove or damage the insulation.

    Advantages: no ducting, no installation

You may know someone you know who has had a heating system installed in their house or flat. Conventional fireplace, wood-burning stove or pellet stove. There were a lot of constraints involved, such as finding an installer and applying for permission to install a flue: these are all steps that you won't have to go through when installing your designer heating system. In addition to the fact that it requires no work or connections whatsoever to get it up and running, the fireplace you install in your home will require very little effort before it can be put into operation. Depending on the model, you'll need to install the glass in its notches or using spacer screws. In fact, the most "complicated" stage in the installation process is the wall fixing - which is done a bit like hanging a painting. Once installed, your ethanol fireplace will produce no ashes, smoke, dust or bad odours. All you get are the benefits of a conventional fireplace, namely real flames to warm up your living room.

    Different designs

Some of you are looking for a model with glass walls for added security, others are looking for an attractive price or an XXL size. In short, there's something for every taste and every budget! For our part, we try to find the right answer to any request you may have, and we invite you to browse the site to find out what you need. If in doubt, or simply to finalise your project, don't hesitate to call or email us. There are three designs of organic fireplaces. Table-top, floor-standing or wall-mounted. Here's a brief description of what you can expect from each of them.

    Burner or combustion chamber

This is the main component of our chimney. It burns the liquid ethanol. There are two main families:

Single-wall burner: This is usually fitted to the least expensive ethanol fireplaces. This does not mean that they are of poor quality, just that their design and manufacture cost less, which is passed on to the consumer at the time of purchase.

Double-walled burner: This is fitted to top-of-the-range models. The visible wall on the outside of the burner is lined on the inside by a secondary wall, like the hull of some ships. These burners are safer because they prevent leaks and last longer.

A fluffy foam is often seen inside burners, and is in fact fibreglass. It has two functions combustion regulation, and the prevention of possible accidents in the event of the chimney tipping over, by trapping the fuel.

Many fireplaces have a small hatch next to the flame: this is a flame regulator, which can be slid to make the flame more or less intense. Other fireplaces are round, with a small capacity and no control flap: these are the decorative models.

And finally.., our ethanol burners are all made of stainless steel, metal that stands up well to heat and weather.

    Autonomy

The average autonomy of an ethanol fireplace is 3 to 4 hours, which means you can have an evening's flambé without having to refuel. There's a simple calculation you can use to find out how long your fireplace will last. Although it is generally mentioned on each product sheet, here is the rule to use.

Let's take the example of the chimney Quattro Black. It is fitted with a 1.5-litre firebox, for a consumption of 0.35 l/hour. The calculation will therefore be: (carrying capacity / consumption) i.e. 1.5/0.35 = 4.3

This means that the quattro Black remains autonomous for an average of just over 4 hours.

    The ethanol fireplace heats

As a general rule, you seem sceptical about the heating capacity of ethanol fireplaces: rest assured on this point. The vast majority of the stoves we sell - with the exception of a few very small table-top models - have a heating capacity. But don't be fooled into thinking of ethanol as a stand-alone heating system. It's more of a comfort or auxiliary heater, capable of providing the 3 to 4 degrees that are missing in a living room to make it really cosy. It provides a real complement of warmth, but cannot be the sole source of heating in the home. It should always be coupled with a traditional heating system (radiator, convector, etc). Use the power index below to select the model that's best suited to your home. Please note that these figures are for a properly insulated room with a 2.5 metre ceiling. If you're not sure which model to choose, don't hesitate to call us on 04 75 80 55 38 for free, personalised advice.

Each product on the site is illustrated by a data sheet showing its power. Many of you are also able to provide feedback by giving your opinion after receiving the product. Example of a customer review for the Sand model (2 burners): "excellent auxiliary heating: you can expect a gain of 4 degrees over a 50m2 room with a mezzanine! plus low consumption! more than satisfied with this purchase."

    Safety is paramount

Think about the safety of your fireplace: a fireplace must be filled before it is lit, and emptied when it is not in use. This will prevent young children, for example, from trying to operate the appliance.

Also, as ethanol is highly combustible, you should not light your fireplace with a match or any other object that would require you to have your hands close to the fire. Instead, use a long safety lighter to prevent any risk of burns. Remember not to leave your fuel bottle near the fireplace when it is in operation.

    The first outbreak

Once the burner is in place - which in safety terms means that it is well positioned in its slot, and that the chimney is level with the floor - you will need to fill the tank with fuel for the first time. This first 'fill-up' won't really be a fill-up: you'll need to fill the tank to half its capacity. With the wick soaked in alcohol, it's time for the first flare-up.

As a general rule, avoid installing your appliance in an unventilated room. A window or a VMC in your room will help to renew the air before and after ethanol combustion. Bear in mind that all types of heating, not just ethanol-fuelled ones, can be potentially dangerous if used improperly. If you follow these few common-sense safety instructions, the hearth will pose no danger.

    Is it adjustable ?

Yes, except for a few models, the flame can be set and adjusted using the accessories supplied. You can also turn it off before combustion is complete, although it's best to adapt the amount of fuel to the use you intend to make of it.

    What makes the price

Some sellers have a 'cheap' pricing policy. Prices can sometimes double for models that are visually similar to those in our catalogue. To help you make the right choice, please note that :

A lot of sites use their competitors' product images. Our policy on this is clear. As soon as we receive a new model, before writing a description, we take a photo of it in our studio. So you buy what you see.

Le weight is a strong indicator of quality. An ethanol fireplace is made of steel, stainless steel and glass. All this is heavy. Sometimes, for an "identical" model, two dealers will offer you one weighing 30 kilos and the other 15. The result is thinner sheet metal and a poorer quality material, which will not withstand heat and weather, and which cannot be handled without being warped.

La availability check that what you are about to pay for is in stock with the merchant. We receive a lot of calls from disappointed people. They have ordered a fireplace only to find out a few weeks later that it will never be delivered. In this case, the wait for a refund can be long. For our part, we choose not to make available for sale anything that we don't have in stock. Once an order has been placed, delivery takes 3 to 4 days in most cases.

For our part, we work with a handful of carefully selected suppliers. We meet with them at least once a year, and they offer us perfect quality and follow-up on all the models we select for you. It's this same quality that enables us to glean numerous customer reviews, which you can find on the product pages.

Ethanol fireplaces are an effective way of combining supplementary heating and design. This is a product that heats efficiently if it has been carefully selected, and that responds to a "pleasure" issue by allowing you to have a blaze without prohibitive cost.
