Golden monolith paint

A golden dolmen

On first reading, the subject of this painting is reminiscent of a dolmen. Paint inlays are present on its body, like runes, one of the first alphabets used by man. The relief aspect of this canvas has been achieved by using very thick paint, applied with a knife: it gives the impression of a fairly primitive work, which contrasts well with the rich gilding throughout.

The painting seems to recall the skills of early man: the artist wanted to pay tribute to them.
