circular paint pattern and industrial pâtine

An industrial patina for an avant-garde painting

This painting uses a square format and is quite imposing (80 x 80 cm). The artist chose to paint it on a sheet of aluminium, which is brushed to give it a very rough, metallic tone. The painted motif represents two circles that would have been placed on the outside of the canvas: we get a beautiful impression of a motif that would continue beyond the limits of the painting.

The contours of the circles are painted with a fine quality of paint: irregular and slightly degraded, reminiscent of traces of rust or sludge. The very industrial aspect that emerges is reminiscent of workshop machines and their engines.

A few irregular red lines add rhythm and vigour to the whole. In a rawer version, it resembles the abstract canvas cercle.
