A painting inspired by the pop era
Although it bears no resemblance to other well-known paintings, this canvas incorporates all the elements that made the masters of pop art famous, from the 50s to the 70s.
The silkscreen
A stylised flower has been painted on this canvas. It looks as if it has been stencilled, but it has the characteristic pattern of screen-printed elements. It is reminiscent of artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, who produced a number of screen-printed canvases, and in some ways Warhol, who painted screen-printed portraits in bright colours: here the flower is made of cyan and yellow.
Collages
There are also collaged elements in this painting. Many pop artists have used this technique. Rotella and his collaged posters are just two examples. Here, a clearly defined element has been placed on the right-hand side of the painting.
The composition
Unsurprisingly, the composition of this design painting is made up of a triangle, formed by the three stylised flowers. The composition is simple but effective, with pop and 70s tones that will complement a vintage decor.
