A neutral, square abstract painting

That's really what characterises this abstract painting: its neutral aspects and square format. This is what we see when we look at it closely. First of all, it's a square canvas painted in a solid light brown that forms the background. A small wooden panel with the abstract composition has been glued to the canvas.

The central point of the composition

This wooden panel has the same square proportions as the canvas, but is visually much more elaborate. There are two flat areas of colour at the back, 1/3 grey and 2/3 brown. These flat areas support a silvery-grey rectangle that has been worked and textured. At the centre of this rectangle is an amber-coloured resin bead. Circled in silver, it looks like a jewel in its box.
